ABOUT HEATHER DIETER BARTMANN

Heather was born in England in 1945 and grew up in, then rural, Naperville, Illinois.  She graduated from the American Academy of Art in Chicago and studied Ornithology at Colorado State University.  She maintains her studio near the foothills in Fort Collins, Colorado.

Heather Bartmann directs her painting skills to the birds of Colorado and their habitat.  These are approached with the enthusiasm and awareness that comes from years of close study.  Often choosing the less spectacular, seldom painted species, she captures bits of their day to day lives, private moments often unseen by the casual passerby.

Her attention to detail, composition and design result in a piece of work that has an easily recognized and profound sensitivity for her subjects.
